Our advice
- Keep the free starter car until your next car runs. One player guide says to sell it early, but no source shows what it sells for, and at the start it is your only working car.
- Spend Cash at the junkyard before you spend it on auction garages. A junkyard car shows its damaged parts, condition and market value up front, while an auction garage can hand you a bad car.
- We would not pay Robux for a Junkyard Refresh early on. One player guide showed the stock refreshing on its own timer, so waiting costs nothing.
How to Get Better Cars in Mechanic Legends, step by step
-
Step 1: hold E on a junkyard car to see its condition, damaged parts, repairs, market value and asking price. Illustration by MechanicLegends.org A junkyard car worth fixing
Every junkyard car has an inspection panel, opened by holding E, that lists the condition, damaged parts, repairs, market value and asking price. Compare the market value with the price and count the damaged parts. This route costs Cash, not Robux, and the risk is low because you see the faults first.

Step 2: the dealership sells brand-new cars to drive. We have no source yet for its prices. Illustration by MechanicLegends.org Dealership cars, brand new
The dealership sells brand-new cars to drive. A new car skips the repair work, but we have no source yet for dealership prices, so check the price in the game before you start saving.

Step 3: an auction garage costs 65K in-game Cash and gives a random car, from bad to very rare. Illustration by MechanicLegends.org A luck-based pick from the auction house
At the auction house, an auction garage costs 65K in-game Cash and gives a random car, from bad to very rare. You pay before you see the car, so this is the riskiest way to spend Cash on a car.

Step 4: the Roblox store sells the Twin Turbo Car Pack for 1,295 Robux. Illustration by MechanicLegends.org The Twin Turbo Car Pack, a Robux route
The Roblox store sells the Twin Turbo Car Pack for 1,295 Robux. We have no source yet for which cars it contains, so read the store listing before you buy. The store also lists Open a Regular Garage for 95 Robux and Open a Premium Garage for 179 Robux.
Where people get stuck
Selling the starter car too soon leaves you without a ride
One player guide recommends selling the starter car early. We would wait until your next car runs, since no source shows what the starter car sells for.
The car from your auction garage turns out to be a poor one
Auction garages give a random car, from bad to very rare. Only open one with Cash you do not need for repairs, and keep flipping junkyard cars for steady progress.
The junkyard has nothing worth buying
The junkyard stock refreshes on a timer. One player guide showed about 12 minutes to the next refresh, so wait or take a customer job instead of paying Robux for a Junkyard Refresh.
How do you get better cars in Mechanic Legends?
As of the October 29, 2026 update, there are four routes to a better car. Junkyard cars cost in-game Cash, auction garages cost Cash or Robux, the car pack costs Robux, and we have no source yet for dealership prices:
| Route | What you pay with | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Junkyard car | Cash | Low: you see the damaged parts and market value first |
| Dealership | No source yet for prices | Low: the car is brand new |
| Auction garage | Cash; the store also sells garages for Robux | High: the car is random, from bad to very rare |
| Twin Turbo Car Pack | Robux | Unknown: we have no source for what it contains |
Before any of these, the tutorial ends with a free starter car, chosen from a short list of options, so the real question is what to move up to next.
The junkyard
We would start at the junkyard, the place to buy a car that still needs fixing. Holding E on a car there brings up the inspection panel, with the condition, the damaged parts, the repairs, the market value and the asking price. That means you know what you are getting before you pay.
Player guides advise comparing the market value with the price and the number of damaged parts. A car that needs only a couple of parts can sell for much more than it cost. Once it is fixed, it is your call whether the used car dealer gets it or you drive it yourself. Either way, we expect the junkyard to be the cheapest way to own a car that is better than the one you started with.
Two more things to know:
- The stock refreshes. One player guide showed the junkyard stock refreshing on a timer, with about 12 minutes to the next refresh. The Roblox store also sells a Junkyard Refresh for 95 Robux. We would wait for the timer instead.
- Spots show percentages. Junkyard spots show percentages such as 9% and 11%, and two player channels show them. No source we have explains what the number measures yet, so do not pick a car by it alone.
The dealership
The dealership sells brand-new cars to drive. A new car skips the repair work entirely, so you can drive it straight away. The catch is that we have no source yet for dealership prices, so we cannot tell you how long you need to save.
Auction garages
At the auction house you can open a garage that gives a random car, from bad to very rare. An auction garage costs 65K in-game Cash, and two player channels show that price. You pay before you see the car, so it is a gamble rather than a plan.
The Roblox store also lists Open a Regular Garage for 95 Robux and Open a Premium Garage for 179 Robux. We think these are the Robux way to open a garage, but no source we have says what each one gives. Our page on Mechanic Legends auction garages covers them in more detail.
The Robux car pack
The Roblox store sells the Twin Turbo Car Pack for 1,295 Robux. We have no source yet for which cars it contains or how they compare with junkyard or dealership cars. Read the store listing before you buy. Our page on Mechanic Legends Robux prices lists everything else the store sells.
How do you get rare cars?
The game page says finding and collecting rare cars is part of the game. Of the sources we have, only the auction house is tied to rare cars: an auction garage can give anything from a bad car to a very rare one. No source we have says the junkyard or the dealership stocks rare cars, and none says what decides which car an auction garage gives.
The starter car
After the tutorial you pick a free starter car from a few options. It will not start at first because the wiring harness is missing, and the game gives you cash to order a new one. One player guide recommends selling the starter car early for cash, saying it is not very good. We would keep it until your next car runs, because no source shows what it sells for and it is your only working car at the start.
Why we have not listed car names yet
Players search for a list of every car, and we would like to give one. We have not, on purpose. The car names in player videos are what the creators say out loud, and they may not match the names the game shows on screen. Until we can check the names against the game itself, a list would risk sending you after a car that does not exist under that name. We will add car names once we can match them to what the game displays.
